Normally, at this article I would be discussing lifestyle actions that we shall change in order to cope with the current status of climate change in the post corona era, especially we were celebrating “The world Environment Day” during the last week under the theme of “Time for Nature”. Yet at the same time, the earth was suffering from an unexpected catastrophe, as if human errors are not allowing nature enough time to cure from all the environmental crisis across the history.

Over 21,000 tons of diesel were leaked into the Arctic Ocean. An incident that marks one of the largest oil spills in Russian history. Despite that authorities are racing to clean up the leakage, it won’t be an easy task and the impact on nature will be catastrophic. The Russian Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Elena Panova said at the press conference that the recovery of the environment in the area could take at least 10 years. And she added, the cleanup has been complicated by the conditions in the area, where around 6,000 tons of diesel spilled onto the land and another 15,000 tons went to rivers.

Imagine all the animal, marine creatures and plants that will be affected by this event. Imagine the climate that will change at this area due to this leakage. And imagine how that will affect our health in the upcoming years.

I do not want to be disappointing toward the current situation, yet it needs more commitment from every one of us to start realizing the environment we are living in. With 1 million species facing extinction due to either accidental events or daily events people have been practicing and been directly/indirectly harming the nature, there has never been a more important time to focus on biodiversity, achieve sustainable ecosystems and equilibrate the balance to the planet earth through our daily life actions. Simple acts will make major differences.

Don’t think that someone else will save it, It all about you.

Don’t think that only your successors will be affected, it all about your actions.

Time is not in our favor and tomorrow will be too late to start.

it is time now; it is time for nature.
