We keep staring every night at the sky,
Wishing we can one day reach for the stars,
To have them, we claim "we're ready to fight till we die",
Forgetting that if we do, the past always leaves its scars.
And if we approach the dream,
Maybe the heat is stronger than we had thought,
Or the challenges are harder than they used to seem,
So that sadness sometimes still insists to float.
It hurts when we give too much to take back,
And the pain becomes more when gratitude suddenly fades away,
So that the good deeds disappear leaving a blank,
And the truth maybe apparent, but just as a faint ray.
But the real disappointment is that we're addicted to dreaming,
Because without imagination, life would have no meaning;
So in the most desperate moments we can't resist having hope;
As when you're afraid of drowning, you appreciate the weakest rope!
